THE GOSPEL OF JOHN

By John The Evangelist
Directed by Adrian Locher with Benedicta Bertau
Featuring David Anderson, Laurie Portocarrero, and Glen Williamson

Various dates throughout the Spring

Returning for the Easter season, this highly-acclaimed production, which had its U.S. Premiere in 2007, is a breathtaking journey into one of the world’s most famous stories.  Fast paced and accessible to anyone, regardless of belief, the production evokes all the tenderness, intimacy, passion, anger and mystery that John has written into this poetic masterpiece.  Three actors, using only two chairs, a table and a few cloths bring the drama and poetry of this famous text to life with stunning simplicity and imagination.

Meditative and almost balletic… beautifully stylised and executed…excellent”  (4 stars) --The Herald (Edinburgh Fringe 2002)

“An exceptional piece of stagecraft…  No matter what your religious belief—or lack of it—The Gospel of John is an extraordinary evening of theater. You'll find yourself thinking about it, even discussing it with others, for days afterwards. What could be more rewarding?” --Bruce G. Hallenbeck, The Independent

“One terrific story, with plot twists and turns that are classic.  Riveting.    Dynamic.  A wonder.  Terrific.  The play has resonance and strength… triumphs and mysteries.” --J. Peter Bergman, Berkshire Bright Focus

“Dazzlinth ear and eye… highly recommended: theatrical in the best sense of the word.”  --www.theatrebristol.net

“…a spiritual experience charged with passion and power.”
