Walking the dog WALK 2008
Saturday, July 12th
The festivities will kick-off with a Cocktail Reception on Friday, July 11th, at the home of Martin J. Davidson and Virginia Martin in Claverack. Enjoy great food and music in a magical setting from 6 to 8pm, followed by a performance of Walking the dog Theater’s “The Owl and the Pussycat” at 8:30pm at WTD/Basilica Industria.
On Saturday morning, July 12th, at 10am The Dog Parade, led by Spokesdawg Blaise, will begin on the 600 block and move down Warren Street. Pre-registered dogs will pick up their numbers and goodie bags at the Registration Table in the parking lot of the Mental Health Association of Columbia & Greene Counties, 713 Union Street, just above 6th street and Union. The walk will proceed all the way down Warren Street and into WTD/Basilica Industria, just beyond the Hudson Amtrak Station.
The Parade will culminate with a Dog Show and mini-Country Fair from 12 to 2pm at WTD/Basilica. There will be food, drinks, music and lots of fun things available for the whole family! Susan Fireman of the Good Dog Foundation will offer two MIND YOUR MANNERS classes for the happy few (class size limited, register on July 12th at Walking the dog Walk registration, first come, first served). A panel of children judges will award prizes to the dogs (“most dramatic”, “most comedic”, “most elegant”, etc.) and a new Spokesdawg will be chosen for next year!
No dog? Register to walk with the dog from the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA. The CGHS representative will be announced closer to the event.
Don’t miss out on all of the fun for children, adults and dogs alike!
